translateion up c units, add c to whole function
translation left c units, add c to every x

from
y=|x| to y=|x+1|-2
1 was added to every x and 2 was subtracted from whole function
it was moved 1 unit to left and 2 down

Answer:

1 unit to the left and
2 units down

Explanation:

we have

y=\left|x\right|

The vertex of the function is the point
(0,0)

y=\left|x+1\right|-2

The vertex of the function is the point
(-1,-2)

therefore

The rule of the translation is

(0,0)-------> (-1,-2)

(x,y)-------> (x-1,y-2)

That means

The translation is
1 unit to the left and
2 units down
