Rate of change: slope

Slope formula (m)

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

We have the points:

point 1 = (x1,y1)= (0,-4)

Point 2 = (x2,y2) = (6,0)

Replacing:

m=\text{ }(0-(-4))/(6-0)=(4)/(6)=\text{ 0.6666}

The options are in slope-intercept form:

y=mx+b

where m is the slope

So, the slope for each option:

A. 3/4 = 0.75

B.1

C. 1/4 = 0.25

D. 1

E. 1/2 = 0.5

A,B and D are greater than 4/6.

Answer:

A,B and D.
