So, if y = 1, then all you have to do is plug in 1 for y in the first equation! :)

2x + 4y = 10

2x + 4(1) = 10

Simplify.

2x + 4 = 10

Subtract 4 from both sides.

2x = 6

Divide both sides by 2.

x = 3

So, your answer is a) x = 3, y = 1

~Hope I helped!~
