The answer is $3000.

He earned $750 out of $9000 so if we divide 9000/750 you can see how much he makes. 9000/750=12 that means that for every $12 in sales he makes $1.

With the information we have we can now take $1000 and multiply it by 12 giving us the number in sales needed to be made for him to get $1000. Now subtract $9000 and you get $3000 which is your answer.

$3000+$9000=$12000
$12000/12=$1000
