The larger of two numbers is 5 more than the twice the smaller. If the smaller is subtracted from the larger, the result is 12. Find the numbers.

I need this explained in the easiest way so I can understand. Thank you.

Let
x is the smaller of two numbers. The larger of two numbers is equal to
2x+5
If we subtract smaller number from larger, we get 12.

2x+5-x=12
We have to solve this.

2x-x=12-5

x=7
We get the smaller number.
The larger one:

2x+5=2\cdot 7+5=19

Answer: Two numbers we are looking for are 7 and 19.
