How do you subtract fractions

Change the denominator so that they are both the same(eg. 2/3-1/2. The common denominator is 6. So it would change to 5/6-3/6. Then you do 5-3=2 and the 6 would stay the same. Answer:2/6. ( you can reduce that to 1/3. Hope this wasn't to confusing!

first, change the fractions (if you have to) into common denominators. Next, subtract as usual. Finally, simplify if you have to.
