a^2+b^2=c^2
So...

a^2+9=225

a = √(216) = 6 √(6)

In right triangles, the formula I used in number 1 can be used to determine if a triangle is a right triangle.

7^2+9^2=12^2
If this is true, the triangle is a right triangle.

49+81=144?
No, 49+81=130, so the triangle is not a right triangle..

For number 3, use the Pythagorean theorem to find side NP so we can calculate the area.

a^2+16^2=25^2

a^2= 369

a = √(369)
Can you calculate the area now?
