Alexander III of Macedon, known as Alexander the Great, was the king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia. He succeeded his father, King Philip II, on the throne, and he was twenty years old. Almost all his time, he devoted himself to an unseen invasion from Asia to northeast Africa, and created one of the greatest ancient empires until his thirties.
