Answer: They both experienced the consequences of war at a young age.

Zlata Filipović was ten years old when she described the Bosnian war in her diary. She was able to escape with her family to Paris in 1993, where they lived for a year. Her story is similar to that of Anne Frank, a girl who also kept a diary during the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands. Frank, however, did not survive the war. Both girls are similar in that they experienced the consequences of war at a young age.
