A translation of
T_((-3,-8))(x, y) follows the rule:


(x,y)\mapsto (x-3,y-8).

From the diagram you can see that point B has coordinates (1,2). According to the previous rule this point will transform in point B' wit hcoordinates (-2,-6), because


(1,2)\mapsto (1-3,2-8)=(-2,-6).

Answer: the y-coordinate is -6.
