Final answer:

Genetic variation is important to the process of evolution because it is the basis for natural selection. Without genetic differences among individuals, natural selection would not be able to act and lead to changes in the next generation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Genetic variation is important to the process of evolution because it is the basis for natural selection. Without genetic differences among individuals, natural selection would not be able to act and lead to changes in the next generation. Genetic variation provides the 'raw material' upon which natural selection can act, allowing for adaptations that increase an organism's ability to survive and reproduce.

I'm not sure your best bet is to look it up. But, on a scientific level the theory of evolution is sooooo not plausible. Genetic variation is essential for natural selection because natural selection can only increase or decrease frequency of alleles that already exist in the population.Genetic variation is caused by: mutation.
