an = a1 plus d(n -1)
its the arithmetic sequence formula
a1= first term in the sequence
d = the difference which you can find by subtracting -5 from -8 = 3
to find the 10th term in the sequence substitute n for 10
a10 = -8 + 3(10 -1)
a10 = -8 + 3(9)
a10= 19
