California’s plant life is remarkably diverse, thanks to low extinction rates over the past 45 million years, research shows.

Botanists have long recognized California as a biodiversity hotspot. With more than 5,500 native plant species, 40 percent of which are “endemic” (occurring nowhere else), California has more species and more endemic species than any other US state, and is more species-rich than most other places on Earth.

Because there are different activities for different species. For example beaver like to surf and the best surfing is in cali. And tigers live in cali because they like to shop and eat ice cream and this is a very popular thing to do in california. Another example is parrots live in california because they like to be in movies and california has a bunch of movie people.
