2x-2*5=12
2x-10=12

2*10-10=
20-10=10

2*11-10=
22-10=11

2*12-10=
24-10=14

2*13-10=
26-10=16

2(x-5)=12 divide both sides by 2

x-5=6 add 5 to both sides

x=11
