In a nursery, one stalk of rose costs 1.5 times the price of one stalk of daisy.

Janice bought 2 stalks of roses and 3 stalks of daisies. Brenda bought

6 stalks of daisies. Both girls paid the same amount for their flowers.

a) Write a linear equation to find the cost of each stalk of daisies

Let

x -----> the price of one stalk of rose

y ----> the price of one stalk of daisy

we have that

x=1.5 y -------> equation A

Janice

2x+3y

Brenda

6y

we have that

Both girls paid the same amount for their flowers

so

2x+3y=6y

2x=3y ----> equation B

substitute equation A in equation B

2(1.5y)=3y

3y=3y

or

3d=3d ------> it's an identity

the system has inifinite solution

Part b)

the equation is an identity

Part 2

we have that

distance floor to the ceiling --------> 12.5 ft

h
