A harsh environment can lead to a culture of hospitality. Plants and animals will affect how people can produce or gather food.6 people found this useful

Ecosystems have an enormous impact on the development of a culture. For example, if people live in an isolated area (surrounded by mountains, an island hard to reach, etc.), they are more likely to be wary of strangers and to value their closeness with their own community. Another example is the case of Ancient Greece. Ancient Greeks greatly valued hospitality and interaction due to the fact that the Mediterranean is so easy to navigate, which allowed people to travel between the islands. An ecosystem will also affect the crops people grow, the food that they eat and the hobbies they enjoy.
