The standard form of the equation of the circle is:
( x - p )² + ( y - q )² = r²; where p, q are the coordinates of the circle`s center and r is the radius of the circle.
x² - 2 x + y² - 8 y - 8 = 0
( x² - 2 x + 1 ) + ( y² - 8 y + 16 ) - 1 - 16 - 8 = 0
We completed the square of the binomial.
( x - 1 )² + ( y - 4 )² = 1 + 16 + 8
Answer:
The standard form of the equation is ( x - 1 )² + ( y - 4 )² = 25.
