Conventional dial-up connects to the internet at a maximum of 56 kbps. Dial-up internet was really a nightmare, given that each time you wanted to connect to the Internet, there was a loud pitch coming from your computer which lasted for about a minute while your computer was connecting. Also, this internet was so slow, that it would take you hours to download a single song, let alone watch something on YouTube or something like that.
