Since we don't know the initial value, but we know the value when 3 subs are delivered, therefore the initial value algebraically is x-3, then the total charge (r) is given by the following expression, since x is the number of subs delivered:


\begin{gathered} r=20+(x-3)\cdot6 \\ r=20+6x-18 \\ r=6x+2 \end{gathered}

The rule to determine how much the store charges based on the number of turkey subs delivered is $(6x + 2)

We can prove the rule as follows:


\begin{gathered} r=6\cdot3+2=20 \\ r=6\cdot4+2=26 \end{gathered}
