Low pressure areas are associated with bad weather .i.e. Rains, Thunderstorms,Cyclones etc. Whereas High Pressure areas are associated with Nice and Calm Weather .i.e.
Sunny outdoors,gentle wind etc.

Yes, there were high and low pressure area. The high pressure was in the mid-west, and the low was south-east. In low pressure areas, you should expect some kind of storm; rain, thunder, snow, etc. High pressure areas are generally fair weather areas.
