Hey there!

x² + 4x = 5
First thing we have to do is equal it to 0
x² + 4x - 5 = 0 ( since I am changing +5 to the left side, it becomes -5)
Now we just factorize
(x - 1)( x + 5) =0
Now we just equal the factors to 0
x - 1 = 0 or x + 5 = 0
x = 0 + 1 or x = 0 - 5
x = 1 or x = -5

Thus, the final answer is : X = 1 or x = -5

the answer was x=1 or x=-5

let's solve your equation step-by-step

1.step subtract 5 from both sides

x^2+4x-5=5-5

x^2+4-5=0

2.step factor left side of equation

(x-1)(x+5)=0

3.step set factors equal to 0

x-1=0 or x+5=0

x=1 or x=-5

hope that helps you!!!!
