To do that we can use the addition property of equality . it tells us that if If two expressions are equal to each other, and you add the same value to both sides of the equation, the equation will remain equal

so

a)add 2 in both sides


\begin{gathered} 4x-2=10 \\ 4x-2+2=10+2 \\ 4x=12 \end{gathered}

Step 2

now, we need to "move " the coefficient of x, so we can use the division property of equality, it states that when we divide both sides of an equation by the same non-zero number, the two sides remain equal.

so

b) divide both sides by 4
