Light with a wavelength of about 510 nm is made to pass through a diffraction grating. The angle formed between the path of the incident light and the diffracted light is 12.0° and forms a first-order bright band.

If the light with a wavelength of about 510 nm is made to pass through a diffraction grating and the angle formed between the path of the incident light and the diffracted light is 12.0° and forms a first-order bright band, then the width of the slit is 1mm.

As we know that for diffraction grating the light is diffracted to some angle and forms a minimum

the condition is given as

a sin\theta = N\lambda

here we know that

a = size of grating

\theta = 12^0

\lambda = 510 nm

Now from above formula we will say

a sin12 = 1* 510 * 10^(-9)

a = (510 * 10^(-9))/(sin12)

a = 2.45 * 10^(-6) m

so here size of the grating will be 2.45 micro meter
