The mission was to protect the USA. It was important because if they didn't other countries would try to kill americans. The american soldiers help not get the americans dead. The president of the USA is in charge of what they do. The president either agrees with other leaders,where they would not have to go out and protect the USA,or if there has been a threat to the USA,citizens in the USA,or to the president and the president doesn't agree with the other leaders they have to go out and protect the USA
