To go through how they felt and help people understand what to do and what not to do during an emergency or a crisis or whatever, it also helps the reader understand the full story

Newspapers should be aware of the readers' background knowledge in order to tailor their articles to a particular type of audience. If the newspapers write articles that are too simple, readers will not find them interesting or challenging, and they will likely stop reading them. On the other hand, if the articles assume a lot of background knowledge, they could become overly complicated and technical, which would also reduce their audience.
