Given the ratio of the sides of similar rectangles = a : b , then

the ratio of the areas = a² : b²

Here ratio of sides = 4 : 4.8 = 1 : 1.2

ratio of areas = 1² : 1.2² = 1 : 1.44

Let x be the area of the larger rectangle then by proportion


(1)/(28) =
(1.44)/(x) ( cross- multiply )

x = 40.32

Area of larger rectangle is 40.32 cm²
