it was very important it influenced the society. They exempted from paying taxes because they where giving service to their parishioners and also provider spiral satisfactions and care. They were mediators between god and men.

The clergy were the religious people. There were nuns, bishops, priests, and monks. They were known to transcribe books and the priests offered spiritual guidance.
