Carrots cost £1 for a 1.2kg bag at tesco. the same type of carrots cost 77 pence for a 700g bag at asda. where are the carrots the better value? you must show your working

tesco would be the better choice because its $1 for 2.6lbs compared to $1 for 1lbs

The carrots from Tesco are better value for money.

Explanation:

We need to find out how much money we need to pay for 1 kg of each of them.Therefore,

1/1.2=0.84 pence for 1 kg of carrots

and for the other we need to convert the grams into kg.

1kg=1000 g.

Therefore 700g=0.7 kg

Also,we need to convert the pence into pounds

1 pound=100 pence

Therefore 77 pence=0.77 pounds

0.77/0.7=1.1 pounds for 1 kg of carrots

We compare the price from Tesco which is 0.84 with the price from ASDA which is 1.1 pounds.

Clearly,the offer from Tesco is better value.
