Explanation:

3/4x + 2 = 3/8x - 4

subtract 2 from both sides we get

(3/4)x=(3/8)x-6

subtract (3/8)x from both sides, we get

(3/4)x-(3/8)x= -6

now taking L.C.M we get

((6-3)/8)x= -6

(3/8)x= -6

x= -6*8/3

x= -16
