-48/(-4): negative # divided by a negative # is a positive #
12/(-4)
A positive # divided by a negative # is positive.
Your answer is -3.

To solve this you just have to do the division from left to right. -48 divided by -4 is 12 and 12 divided by -4 is -3, which is your answer. Hope this helps!
