Hence area of the given figure = area of top triangle +area of middle rectangle+area of bottom trapezium

Area of top triangle=
(1)/(2) (bh) (b=base h=height)=(1)/(2)(4x3)=6

Area of middle rectangle=
bh 3x10=30

area of a trapezoid=
(1)/(2)h(b_1 +b_2) =(1)/(2)(5+3)2 =81/2(base+base)h (two bases because one on top, one on bottom) 1/2(5+3)2=8

Total area = 6+30+8 =44 in^2
