A company sold garden hoses at a reduced price of $6.67 and took an end-of-season mark down of $9.28. What was the original selling price of each hose? Use the formula of M=S-N, where M is the markdown, S is tye original selling price, and N is the reduced price.

We have the formula:

M=S-N

where M is the mark down, S is the original price and N is the reduced price. Plugging the values we know:

\begin{gathered} 9.28=S-6.67 \\ S=9.28+6.67 \\ S=15.95 \end{gathered}

Therefore the original price was $15.95
