if the area of a square is 128 square meters. what would be its area if the side lengths were decreased to 1/4 their original lengths?

The area will be 8 square meters if the side length were decreases 1/4 their original lengths. Hope it help!

Set up a ratio...

s^2/(s/4)^2=128/a

s^2/(s^2/16)=128/a

16=128/a

16a=128

a=8 m^2
