Blake plays football. Last year, he averaged 280 passing yards per game during his team's 9-game season. The school record for total passing yards in a season is 3, 114 yards. If Blake increases his passing yards per game by 25% this year, how close will he come to breaking the record?

a)he will break the record by 36 yards b)he will break the record by 29 yards c)he will be 369 yards close to breaking the record d) he will be 531 yards short to breaking the record

You just need to multiply 280 and 9. Then multiply that product by 1.25. To find out how much he breaks the record by you need to subtract the 3114 from the overall product.

Answer:

a)he will break the record by 36 yards b)he will break the record by 29 yards

Explanation:

Given that lake plays football. Last year, he averaged 280 passing yards per game during his team's 9-game season

Hence for 9 games or in the season his average would be

=
280(9)=2520 yards

The total passing yards is fixed by school as
3114 yards

If Bake increases by 25% his new score after improvement would be

1.25*2520=3150 yards

Thus he exceeds the target by

3150-3114 =36 yards

Hence Option A is correct.
