There is 1 thing to consider regarding an infant with an obstructed airway and it is whether the infant is conscious or unconscious.

If the infant is conscious, do these steps:
1) Do 5 back blows
2) Do 5 chest thrusts.
Repeat steps until object is expelled or infant becomes unconscious

If the infant is unconscious, do these steps:
1.) Open the infant's airway with slight extension of the neck and look in the mouth and remove object if seen
2.) Attempt to ventilate; if unsuccessful, reopen the airway and try again
3.) Perform chest compression (30 if you are by yourself;15 if two rescuers are present)
Repeat steps until object is expelled or until help arrives.
