There are 8 more students 55 inches tall or less than students that are more than 55 inches.

Work:Add all of the circles together for 53.5,54,54.5,and 55.
That comes out to 15 circles/students.
Then add all of the circles together for 55.5,56,and 56.5
That comes out to 7 circles/students.
Lastly subtract 15-7 and u get 8.

so to find the first number you would count the dots from 55 inches and shorter. You would get 15. Then you start at 55.5 inches and count all the rest of the dots from then and get 7. then you would take 15 and subtract 7 from it.
