30% of 12 is 12 x .30= 3.6 so after the discount the cd is $8.40. 6$ of 8.40 is 8.40 x .06= .50 which is the amount of tax you will pay. 8.40 + .50= $8.90

Hope this helps

Final answer:

The total price of the CD, including tax, is $8.90.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the total price of the CD, including tax, we need to first calculate the discounted price of the CD. If the CD is 30% off, the discounted price would be 30% of $12.00, which is $3.60. So the discounted price of the CD would be $12.00 - $3.60 = $8.40.

Next, we need to calculate the sales tax on the discounted price. The sales tax is 6% of $8.40, which is $0.50.

Finally, to find the total price of the CD including tax, we add the discounted price and the sales tax. So the total price would be $8.40 + $0.50 = $8.90.
