Alyssa has one ribbon that is 10 inches long and 4 ribbons that are two feet long Each if she lines up all the ribbons end to end, how many inches of ribbons will Alyssa have in all?

You need to start out by converting all measurements to the same units, in this case, inches. You know there are 12 inches in a foot, so the ribbons that are 2 feet long are 24 inches. Then you can add everything or do a combination of adding and multiplying
10+24+24+24+24=106 inches of ribbon
Or
(4•24)+10=
96+10=106 inches of ribbon
Same answer, just different ways to get it :)

1 foot = 12 inches
The 4 ribbons is 8 feet because each ribbon is 2 feet each
You would multiply the 8 ft by 12 to convert the feet to inches
8 ft. x 12in = 96in.
Then add the remaining ribbon
96 + 10= 106 inches of ribbon
