The battle of Antietam was known as the bloodiest war that happened in America. Here, the
Union won the battle which led to the Emancipation Proclamation. The proclamation
was given by President Lincoln who declared the freedom of slaves in the South.
This immediately helped the slaves escape the Confederates and go to the Union based areas.
