Given data

Total cost of utilities per month =$1150

Let the cost of rent be x

And the cost of electricity be y

x+y=1150---------1

It costs $650 more for rent per month than for electricity

x=x+650-------2

From equation 1

x+x+650=1150

2x=1150-650

2X=$500

x=500/2

x=$250

Hence the cost of electricity is $250

And the cost of rent is $650+250

=$900
