(5/6)x-4 = -2
add -4 to both sides
(5/6)x-4 = -2
+4 +4
you get
(5/6)x = 2
divide (5/6) on both sides
(5/6)x= 2 / (5/6)
you get x = 2.4

5/6x -4 = -2
5/6x = 2
multiply both sides by 6 to get rid of the fraction.
5x = 12
x = 2.4
