If g(x)=3x+1, evaluate g(-14)

substitute -14 for x
So, g(x) = 3x + 1 becomes g(-14) = 3(-14) + 1
g(-14) = -42 +1
g(-14) = -41

-41 because 3(-14) = -42+1 = -41
