The point-slope form of the linear equation is

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

m is the slope

(x1, y1) is a point on the line

Since a line passes through the point (-9, 8) and has a slope of -2/3, then

\begin{gathered} (x_1,y_1)=(-9,8) \\ m=-(2)/(3) \end{gathered}

Substitute them in the form above

\begin{gathered} y-8=-(2)/(3)(x--9) \\ y-8=-(2)/(3)(x+9) \end{gathered}

The equation of the line in the point-slope form is

y-8=-(2)/(3)(x+9)
