The radius r of the base of a cone is given by the equation r=(3Vπh)1/2, where V is the volume of the cone and h is the height of the cone. Find the radius of the paper cup to the nearest inch. Use 3.14 for π.

STEP BY STEP EXPLANATION:

We are given with the following equation r=(3V/πh)^1/2. By the picture we know that "V' is volume which translated to 5 in this problem, "π" is 3.14 and "h" is out height or 4in (in the picture we get all this values).

Therefore everything that there is left is to substitute and answer.

r = (3[5]/3.14[4])^1/2 - multiply the numbers

r = (15/3.14[4])^1/2 ~ (15/12.56)^1/2 -convert the decimal into a fraction and keep going

....

I must say the answer is 1 because it's rounded it's an approx. because the exact number the problem gives us is 1.09 rounded ends up being just 1
