Explain the meaning of the american standard of living during the 1950s

The 1950s was the Golden Age in the United States. People mostly lived in the suburbs and had only one parent, father, work for the finances in the home. Many people were well off and could afford having three or more children in the household, hence the term Baby Boomers for the children being born during this time.
