1 Subtract 3 from both sides
19−3>8u
2 Simplify 19-3 to
16
16>8
u
3 Divide both sides by
8
16/8 > u
4 Simplify 16/8 to 2
2 > u
5 Switch sides
u < 2
I hope this helps. :)

8u+3<19 subtract 3 from both sides
8u<16 divide both sides by 8
u<2 so
-9 is in the solution set u=(-oo, 2)
