What is the missing number in the number sentence ?

( 8 * 4) * 6 = 8 * ( * 6)

The parentheses don't really matter, due to the whole equation is multiplication. So:
(8 * 4) * 6 = 8 * ( ? * 6)
The number missing on the right would be 4.
