The Red-bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus) is a ave of the family Picidae that can be found in the eastern U.S going from Florida until the Canada (south to north od the American continent - forest biome). Red-bellied woodpecker are small birds (24-30cm) with pale feathers and a red cap and nape, they are found hitching along branches and trunks of trees in the eastern forests, being omnivore diurmal monogamy species, that does not fly away with the change of seasons (non-migratory birds). The Red-bellied woodpecker are primary and secondary consumers in the food chain.
