First you can turn 9 1/2 into a improper fraction and the that would be 19/2 and then find a common denominator for 19/2 and 3/5 which could be 10. and then after that u would get 57/10 and round up.

1 3/5 = 0.6 and 9 1/2 is approximately = 10
so 0.6 * 10 = 6
2. 9 * 0.6 = 5.4 and add 0.6 * 0.5 = 0.3 = 5.7
3. 10 * 3/5 = 30/5 = 6
