Hello there.

Question: Samaria has 6 more than three times as many pieces of candy as Sydney. Samaria has 36 pieces of candy. How many does Sydney have?

Answer: C is candy
Samaria = 3c + 6
36 = 3c + 6.
Subtract 6 from both sides:
36 - 6 = 30
30 = 3c.
Divide both sides by 3:
30/3 = 10
Sydney has 10 pieces of candy.
